Arnold de Jong
I was born in 1949 in Batavia the current Indonesian Jakarta.
Even in our childhood, my brothers and I were playfully tinkering and building kites, catapults and soap boxes.
For about 40 years, I have enjoyed making ceramic sculptures, urns and large spheres that I want to provide with as thin a wall as possible. After firing, these spheres are also fired using Raku, which gives a surprising result.
Besides working with clay, I also like to cast a rod, especially for salmon trout. For this I travel not only in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany but also annually to Denmark where this species can be fished in abundance.
